When considering how to buy a computer. First decide what you want it to do.
What company finance director in their right mind, would green light the development of any new technology, for a desktop PC. All indicators, point to the death of this once particularly profitable platform. Hard drives along with CD's & DVD's are all redundant. Today's new technology is tomorrows landfill.
There are virtually no functions that a desktop computer can handle, that cannot be handled by laptops and even iPads.On the move. So what is the argument for keeping them.
Storage. The cloud may well be 'up there' but people like to know, that they have their data to hand. Laptops can perform this function too. It is the perception that it can that is lagging in the public consciousness.
Cloud Or Local Storage?
This may be the defining issue when it come to ordering a new desktop computer. Maybe a better question would be. Would you give up your local computer storage to have it floating around in the ether? If not then what is the best system for you?

Mac & PC users have had an ongoing debate. Which is better, the Mac or the PC. Mac's and PC's perform similar functions. Are they really two different types of computer and Is it true that the Mac has a superior operating systems? The main difference between the two is again is.
Perception.
Computer companies are in the business of moving boxes.(computers) The finance departments don't care how they do it, just as long as they shift them. Nobody wants to carry stock.
